Law Enforcement Protocols

Last updated: September 16, 2026

This page describes how competent authorities may send official requests to Aedon concerning an account, content, report or safety matter.

Aedon reviews authority requests in accordance with applicable law, user protection requirements and the need to prevent abuse.

Contact point

Official requests from law enforcement agencies and public authorities should be sent to aedon@naboat.fr.

To help verification, requests should preferably be sent from an official professional email address belonging to the requesting authority. Aedon may request additional information to confirm the identity, role and authority of the requester.

Information to include

To allow efficient processing, the request should include as much of the following as possible:

  • the name of the requesting authority, department, country and professional contact details of the officer in charge;
  • the legal basis for the request and, where required, a copy of the subpoena, court order, warrant or other official legal process;
  • identifiers that help locate the relevant account or content, such as email address, phone number, user ID, username, approximate message date or screenshot;
  • the requested data, the relevant time period and the connection between the requested data and the investigation;
  • any applicable confidentiality or urgency constraints.

Emergency requests

In cases involving an imminent risk of death, serious physical injury, child exploitation, disappearance, serious threat or another emergency, clearly include URGENT in the email subject and describe the nature of the risk.

Aedon may take prompt action, including preserving certain information, restricting an account or reviewing available information, where necessary and permitted by applicable law.

Preservation requests

Authorities may request temporary preservation of data linked to a specific account or incident while a legally valid request for disclosure is prepared.

The preservation request should precisely identify the relevant account or content and the requested time period. Aedon preserves only reasonably necessary and available data, subject to applicable technical and legal limits.

Request review

Aedon reviews each request to verify its origin, apparent validity, scope and proportionality. An incomplete, overly broad, informal or non-compliant request may be rejected or returned for clarification.

Aedon does not provide direct access to internal systems and discloses data only to the extent required or permitted by applicable law.

Types of data

Depending on data availability, the nature of the request and the applicable legal basis, relevant information may include account information, technical data, profile elements, reports, safety information or certain content associated with use of the service.

Data that has been deleted, not collected, anonymized or is technically unavailable cannot be provided.

User notice

Unless legally prohibited, harmful to an investigation, necessary for safety reasons or otherwise justified, Aedon may notify the relevant user when an official request concerns their account or data.
